Are children being wrongly labelled as ADHD when all they need is to move more?
If you were to observe in a typical classroom today you would see children sitting at their desks for 8 hours, fidgeting, chewing their pencils, restless legs, swinging on chairs…and you would find that these children are constantly being told to “sit still” and “be quiet”.
This seems like a bit of a contradiction to us here at Peak Chiropractic as we know that movement of the body acts as a windmill to power the brain so sitting still all day is going to rob your brain of the stimulation it needs.
In this article Angela Hanscom of TimberNook explores the pain of being labelled ADHD, the rise in diagnosis of ADHD, how poor physical conditioning can cause symptoms that mimic ADHD and why OUR CHILDREN NEED MORE MOVEMENT IN THEIR LIVES.
